Natural England’s Strategy: Recovering Nature for Growth, Health and Security

Linn Wiberg

Natural England has launched a new strategy, setting out an ambition to move beyond protection towards actively supporting the recovery, regeneration and resilience of the natural environment.

The strategy outlines four Strategic Outcomes for Nature:

  • Outcome 1 – Recovering Nature

  • Outcome 2 – Building Better Places

  • Outcome 3 – Improving Health and Wellbeing

  • Outcome 4 – Delivering Security through Nature

For each outcome, Natural England describes what success will look like and the approaches it will take to achieve these goals. The strategy aims to integrate environmental, social and economic action to enable nature to thrive.

These priorities are highly relevant to coastal partnerships and place-based coordination across the North West, particularly in supporting collaborative delivery and long-term ecosystem resilience.
